Dog Boarding Kennels

It can be a very frightening thought to leave your dog in the hands of a stranger whilst you are away from home for a length of time possible on holiday or due to work. There are a lot of people who frantically try to find a way around putting their dog in a dog boarding kennel however it may not be as bad as you think. It is a good idea to make an appointment to go and speak to your local kennel establishment and have a good look around, there is no pressure to book at this point as you are only looking.

It is worth bearing in mind though that during the summer month the kennels will more than likely fill up very fast so it is for this reason that you should not leave it until the minute to book your dog a place within the dog boarding kennel. It is sometimes best to go for one of the smaller establishments as they are more likely to devote a certain amount of personal human care to your dog whilst you are on holiday, however this is not always the case so it is a good idea to do your research before booking.

It is very important to ask questions when you are looking around the dog boarding kennels and as this viewing can sometimes be an emotional event it is a very good idea to write down the different questions that you wish to ask before you go along. It is a good idea to inquire if the establishment ever uses creates because sometimes a lot of kennels do when they overbook themselves.

Some of the other questions you may want to ask are about the feeding regime within the establishment and the exercise regime and also you may want to know if there is emergency staff on at night in case there is any problems. If your dog is on medication for any sort of illness you may want to know if the staff are trained to give the particular medication. Once important thing to do is to go along to the viewing of the boarding with an open mind as they will make you more likely to see it for what it is and not the prejudged vision that you have.
