Which Dogs are allowed to wear Dog Sweater

Since majority of dogs survive without wearing a dog sweater some may wonder if a dog sweater is really necessary and if it is appropriate for all dogs. The opinions over dog sweaters are very divided: some people consider any kind of dog clothes ridiculous, while the others are supporters of dog clothing although some dogs do not need any kind of cloths.

Regardless to people’s opinions some dogs actually need some additional clothing such as dog sweaters especially in places where the outdoor temperatures in winter are very low. Dogs that need to be clothed are little dogs such as chihuahuas, miniature pinchers, toy terriers, etc., short-haired or hairless dogs, puppies, old dogs and dogs which are recovering from certain illness or injury. However, in contrary to dogs which require certain clothing the veterinarians dissuade clothing of longhaired dogs such as Rough Collie and dogs which are accustomed to winter and low temperatures such as Siberian Huskies, Samoyeds, Alaskan Malamute, etc.

Although a dog sweater will not harm your dog and although it protects your dog from cold and harsh weather you should think on your dog’s interests first. You can get a dog sweater for any dog breed and clothe almost every dog but if you own a longhaired dog or dog which is accustomed to low temperatures and harsh weather during winter you should perhaps reconsider before purchasing a dog sweater. However, if you are a owner of any smaller dog breed which is not accustomed to low winter temperatures you probably should get a warm, soft and cozy dog sweater.
